Abstract

The aim of this project was to create an application that contains gamified but educational activities for children aged 4-7 year as a way of encouraging learning through play. The application would contain activities that are in line with the National Curriculum for English schools. These activities should be entertaining as well as educational. The opinions of educational professionals informed the application and gave an indication of how effective it is as an educational tool. Development of the software was undertaken in an agile, iterative approach, allowing changes to design and implantation to occur throughout the project. It was created using Cocos2d-x and written in C++. The application that was created is functional and able to be made available to schools and the general public should there be the demand for it.
